Terms
Kodo Terms of Service
Effective October 21, 2026
Welcome to Kodo. Kodo is a fandom memory platform. It includes our website at getkodo.one and Pilot, our AI fan guide on Discord. These terms explain the rules for using Kodo. Please read them. By using Kodo, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Kodo.
Kodo is run by Kodo ("Kodo", "we", "us"), PO Box 325, Oxford, CT 06478.
1. Who can use Kodo
You must be 18 or older to use Kodo. This includes the early access list and Pilot. By using Kodo, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, please don't use Kodo. If you tell Pilot you're under 18, it stores nothing about you.
You also need to be able to agree to these terms where you live. You can't use Kodo if the law says you can't.
2. Your account
Today, Kodo has no account sign-up on the website. On Discord, you join Pilot by running /kodo join and agreeing. If we add accounts later, these rules apply:
- Give us true information.
- Keep your login safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us at hello@getkodo.one if you think someone else is using your account.
3. Using Pilot on Discord
Pilot is a Discord bot. To use it, you also have to follow Discord's own terms and community guidelines. Discord's rules sit alongside ours. Kodo is not part of Discord.
How Pilot works:
- Opt-in. Pilot does nothing with your information until you run
/kodo joinand accept. - Admins choose channels. Server admins choose the public channels where Pilot can reply. Pilot only works in those channels.
- No NSFW. Pilot skips NSFW and age-restricted channels, even if an admin has approved them.
- 18+ servers. Before Pilot goes live in a server, the admin confirms with the Kodo team in writing that the server is 18+.
- No DMs. Pilot never sends DMs.
- Always labeled. Every Pilot reply carries the note "Pilot is an AI".
- No introductions. Pilot does not introduce members to each other. There are no introductions for anyone in the first 60 days.
- Your controls.
/kodo memoryshows what Pilot keeps./kodo exportgives you your data./kodo leavestops collection in a server and deletes that server's data./kodo deleteerases your data in every server.
If you are a server admin, you are responsible for your server. That means following Discord's rules, choosing suitable channels, and keeping the server 18+. You can remove Pilot from your server at any time.
Our Privacy Policy explains what Pilot keeps and how.
4. Acceptable use
Kodo is for fans. Please be kind. You agree not to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse anyone.
- Post, ask for, or share any sexual content involving minors. We report this to the authorities where the law requires it.
- Send spam, or use Kodo to advertise without our permission.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect data from Kodo or Pilot, by bot or by hand.
- Pretend to be someone else, or pretend to speak for Kodo, Discord, or anyone else.
- Break the law, or help someone else break it.
- Try to break, overload, hack, or get around Kodo's safety features or limits.
- Try to trick Pilot into producing harmful content.
- Use Kodo to infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
We may remove content, limit access, or stop Pilot from answering you if you break these rules.
5. Your content
"Your content" means what you send to Kodo. That includes your /kodo commands and the fandoms you pick.
You own your content. To run Kodo, we need your permission to use it. So you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and use your content only to run, protect, and improve Kodo for you. This includes sending your command text to a third-party AI model provider to generate Pilot's reply. The license ends when your content is deleted, except where the law requires us to keep something.
You promise that you have the right to share your content, and that it doesn't break these terms.
We never sell fan data. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep and for how long.
6. AI can be wrong
Pilot is an AI. Its replies are generated automatically. They can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. Pilot can also get spoilers wrong.
Pilot's replies are not professional advice. That includes medical, mental health, legal, financial, or any other professional advice. Please don't rely on Pilot for important decisions. If you need help, talk to a qualified person. If you're in danger, contact your local emergency services.
Pilot's replies don't represent the views of Kodo, the creators of any show, or any studio.
7. Kodo's property
Kodo's name, logos, the Pilot whale, our designs, our software, and our website belong to Kodo or our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them, except the right to use Kodo as these terms allow.
Anime, manga, and other works you talk about belong to their owners. Kodo is not connected to or endorsed by those owners unless we say so.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.
If you believe something on Kodo infringes your copyright, email hello@getkodo.one with the details.
8. Third-party services
Kodo relies on other services. These include Discord, hosting and database providers, a third-party AI model provider, and our email provider. Your use of Discord is covered by Discord's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their outages.
9. Disclaimers
We work hard on Kodo, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises of any kind, whether express or implied. That includes promises that Kodo will be accurate, always available, error-free, secure, or fit for a particular purpose.
Kodo is early. Features may change, pause, or go away.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Kodo and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. That includes lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kodo's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Kodo in the 12 months before the claim or US $100.
Some places don't allow these limits. If you live in one of them, some of these limits may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law, or misuse your content, and someone makes a claim against Kodo because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs. That includes legal fees. This applies to the extent the law allows.
12. Ending things
You can stop using Kodo at any time. On Discord, /kodo leave stops collection in a server and deletes that server's data. /kodo delete erases your data in every server.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Kodo or Pilot. We'll try to tell you first when it makes sense.
Sections 5 (license, for content not yet deleted), 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15 still apply after your access ends.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the effective date above. If a change is important, we'll give notice, for example on our website or through Pilot. If you keep using Kodo after a change, you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
15. General
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer these terms to someone else. We may transfer them, for example if Kodo is reorganized. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Kodo about Kodo.
